Addy is Going to be a Big Sister

Our family is getting bigger!

We are so excited to announce our plans for adoption. After 4 years of trying to conceive, 3 miscarriages and a failed fertility treatment, we have decided to adopt a child from Minnesota.

This is something we have wanted for a long time. In fact, I peeled called to grow our family. Addy is called to be a big sister! Though timing isn’t perfect, we are proceeding to make this happen.

So many birth moms need reliable and reputable adoption services, like counseling, medical assistance and the choice of choosing an adopted family they can see their child with for life. This is why we have decided to go through an independent adoption agency we trust. We had no idea that fees would be prohibitive to our process. Of course there our grants and loans available to this specific population of people, but we want to also involved our extended family and friends to be in our adoption journey.

Already I have quite a Tribe surrounding Addy and myself. I am indeed blessed! Is it too much to expand the our blessings? Perhaps selfish but the call to be a parent again is compelling. When your daughter has been asking for over 3 years, we know that someone or something is tugging at her heart.

We are nervous about the costs and don’t want that to deter us for another two years. Addy is already 6, and we are eager to have the two begin bonding soon. Addy understands she will be sharing her room, her home and her parents. She is ready. We are ready.

Something I never though I would do is crowdsourcing! We are applying for grants and loans too, but are concerned more debt will actually set us back as a family. As a 43 year old, crowdsourcing is not new but the methods certainly. I once had an internship where I had to fundraise 1/2 my summer salary. As a white, Scandinavian Midwesterner I was so scared and felt so disconnected from this phenomenon. Without my Grandpa U.T. I would never have made it.

Grandpa isn’t around anymore and I am putting myself out there in a way I never have before. But the cause seems greater than me and great than my daughter! And if it is greater, I definitely need to expand my capacity and reach for greater heights.

Please consider walking alongside us and helping us to expand our family. Visit this funding page and consider a small donation toward our $33,500 goal. It is a big one; but our community and this call is even bigger! If you don’t get to the direct fundraising page, search for “Bond Family Adoption”.

If you’d like to share your own stories of family and relationships, I’d love to hear them. And if you have any other information about financial resources, I am all ears! And for those of you who have adopted, please share your wisdom with me!
